Thanks Tom :-) You are right that you never know until the voting starts just how well an image will do. I thought the subject matter made these powerful images (especially knowing several people die here each year), but maybe they just don't move people that much? I'm happy to show this one instead, as it was a toss up for me which one to use in the first place.
I've found that it's hard to judge "traction" by comments. The vote may be surprising. So stick to your instincts about what is interesting. I preferred the first although this is a worthy variation, and I love variations. -tv

Thanks Tom, I just now uploaded a new version shot during the same session- the first one didn't seem to be getting much traction :-)
Brent, you have a definite style marked by details and wide dynamic range. The "Suidical?" situation casts an emotional pall over all that sunny scenery. Powerful stuff. -tv
