Of course the sign pops out, how could it do otherwise in a B&W shot. The coloured sign could be anywhere in the shot & it will stand out. A bit like a poke in the eye, not very pleasant:-)

Like the effect or not (sorry Rod), the sign really pops out & instantly recognized as 'Colman's yellow'. Could be used for an ad, if there is such a thing.
ps: I always like seeing the many, many chimneys of England.

Nicely shot Ric but it doesn't really take any photography skills to make a partial desat work. That's maybe why I don't like them, even when I don't mind the look of some of them:-)

Normally, I don't like this kind of effect, but this time the yellow sign salvages the shot and makes your point. I'm convinced. -tv
