Yes, the monochromatic blue is what made me see that shot. I just tried a B&W conversion following your comment and found it lacking. I think it takes away from the appeal of a monochromatic colour - a monochromatic B&W image is nothing special, a monochromatic colour shot is.

I like the DOF and monochromatic blues. Probably would have worked well in B&W too. Nice angles too.
