That's a good starting point. Thanks.

Aam, I believe I may have done it during RAW conversion by changing the white balance, but it was a while ago, so it could have been one of a thousand different ways. ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, how did you get the blue here. I'm asking because often times I take photos like these, so would like to get something similar to your photo. Did you use a filter.

Thanks

Oh! That always makes me happy when my images stir up good memories. :) Where'd you live? ~ Lonnit

I love this shot for it's visual appeal but also its where I spent a major part of my childhood so your Jones Beach shots are a trip down memory lane for me, keep 'em coming. Rich

Thank you. :) I may have blown the highlights in the sun though. LOL! ~ Lonnit

Beautiful shot. The exposure must have been tricky and I think you pulled it off beautifully.

Oh, my! I've never been an idol before! Yikes!!! Thank you for the enormous compliment. :) Comfort zone though? Hmmm... I think any time I have my camera in hand, I'm in my comfort zone. I don't think of shooting as taking risks, but I do think that I try to be different. For example, I went to a photog event, and they had this senior lady dancers posed in a kickline. All the photogs were in front of them, standing in their own kick-line, shooting head on. Me? I was lying on the floor, on the side of them shooting between their legs. So, as far as risk goes, yeah, I might get stepped on! LOL! ;)

I haven't been to the city lately. I'll have to do more of those flash images. They didn't garner much of an audience, but I really liked them, and it's nice that you did too. :)

Rod, I have the 24-70L, which I love, but it is not the same thing at all, not being a fish. I think I will eventually get something else. Right now my plans are for the 70-200L. Hey, I just remembered that I've still got my stupid ol' phoenix 19-35. For a $150 lens, it's dang good, but it's still only a $150 lens. I've never tried it on the 5D. I pulled it from my bag to sell it when I was going to sell the 10D, but then decided I might as well keep it as a back-up body, maybe even dedicating it to the fish when I'm doing paid shooting, if I get into weddings.

I defish when I'm looking for wide angle without distortion. The distortion is quite intense.

As for action, I stir up enough without being provoked! LOL! "Used to be"! LOL!

Aam, I printed this twice, differently, and was never as happy with the print as with the screen version. I think maybe the intensity of the sun is lost on paper, whereas here, it's quite bright and you really feel it, and it's reflection on the water. It doesn't translate to paper. I'd printed for competition then never submitted it. I hate when images do that.

Thanks all,
Lonnit

Just trying to stir her up Aammm, we need some action around here:-)
aam1234 11-May-2007 19:51
"used to"?

She has always been great. Herself and Sharon are my photography idols. They are not afraid of going out of their comfort zone or experiment. We blokes are chicken compared to them.

WTG ladies.

I still remember and admire your flash photos of NY streets, Lonnit. Wish to see more of them.

Lonnit when you bought the 15mm for the 10D you actually bought a 24mm lens (which you know) so I imagine if you want the same usage on the 5D you will need a 24mm lens. The 15mm on the 5D should give you some great very wide angle shots in which the distortions are an integral part, I can't believe you would try & get rid of them with defishing.
I agree Aammm this shot looks a bit special as does the shot of the bins. Lonnit used to be really good:-)

So beautiful and so romantic. I would print it big if it were my photo.

Would like to know how you got/made the blue. Thanks.

Thank you very much all. I've entered some of these before - perhaps before your time, Rod, or always in the other challenge. As for the fisheye, Shu, oh, yes, how I loved this lens on the 10D body, but it annoys me so on the 5D b/c of the lack of crop factor. On the 10D, it's a simple defish and a bit of cropping. On the 5D, it's multiple defishing and you're still bowing out, along with a massive amount of cropping. I don't know how it could be possible, but I could swear you end up with a smaller image out of the 5D with it. It's killed my enjoyment of this lens, which was previously one of my very favorites. ~ Lonnit

It's a wonderful take on the peacefulness of that time of year here in the northeast (January). So unlike what we have to look forward to in the coming months. Nature deserves some peace and quiet don't you think? Lovely! shu

Good 'ol fisheye! I really need one.

Another great looking shot, I haven't seen any of these three before & I'm really impressed. Great work.

wonderful. love the unusual way of presenting the beach with the blues and
the shadows from the fence.
