Michael Shealy

40 Miles *

Calhan, CO

Pike's Peak from 40 miles East. The "ripples" in the foreground (above the road) are ~7 miles apart. The "disturbance" in the ripple above the second post on the left is a ranch house and surrounding trees.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thanks Jammy & RK. This is one of my favorite shots for the graphic nature of it, i.e. the waves/ripples illustrating the pressure, perspective, etc. The sky is pretty cool too. I also converted it to B&W, but its almost unbelievable, so I posted the color one. Cheers, -mikey

Thanks, Rod. The ripples were caused by the Rockies (w/Pike's Peak) coming up due to plate tectonic pressure. Speaking of distance, I should have mentioned that the Moon (sliver at upper left) is ~400,000 Km distant. ":^) Cheers, -mikey
