Very interesting shot. But it seems to be a compromise between conflicting objectives. You need two pics. One to show off the sculpted frame, and another that tightly crops down to the important visual elements - as already mentioned: the frame within the frame. That means cropping out much of the sculpted detail which is a powerful distraction. -tv

Very clever. My only "complaints" would be that it appears to lack contrast and the top of the mirror is cut off. Otherwise, very unique and interesting take on the natural frame.

CJ and all - Here's a pic I took of a C.H.Rockey painting that is displayed at one of our local museums, called the Frontier Museum. Rockey is quite the supporter of community events and establishments, donating pictures for benefits, etc.:

I read a lot of pages from my google search and was only able to come up with a couple of his paintings on the web. He's very prolific and his paintings are highly sought after, but not much shows up there. Here's a link to a nice story with a few small shots of his work in one of our local rags, The Independent:

This one from the Gazette has a pic of Rockey at work:

Thanks for suggesting I post links. I should have thought of that, [looks down at floor..shuffles feet]..."B^) Warm fuzzies, -mikey

Wow - What an optical illusion! I should have looked more closely then I would have noticed the leaves over the edge of the frame! I tried to look up Mr. Rockey but couldn't find much info on him or his art but I did see one picture which showed him and he would have been a perfect subject for the "Face" challenge as he has a very interesting face. If you have a link, I loved to see his work. CJ

Thanks for commenting, CJ. Interestingly, there are no reflections in this photo other than the light off of all the subjects, i.e. no mirror there, its all on the other side of a hole in the wall ":^) Warm fuzzies, -mikey

I like reflections and this is an interesting one to look at - lots of details there to see. I'll have to look up your friend's work on the net as this frame shows he is very talented. CJ

Thanks for the kind words, y'all. This pic was taken in the studio of a local artist, C.H. Rockey. A very interesting fellow who has a taste for the surreal and paints in the style of Van Gogh. He also does considerable sculpting, of which this frame is a taste. He has a show every five years and sells around 100 pieces, usually totalling in the $0.5Meg range, most of which he gives to charity. This frame is around a hole in the wall between his studio entrance (to the right) and his "paint room" on the left thru the opening. There is a window beyond that looks onto the street where you see the car parked. If you google his name you'll find he's a pretty cool guy. Cheers, -mikey

Very interesting Michael! It would be cool to see some detail shots of the frame & a more front-on shot, see what this is all about. Most unusual!

Quite clever Michael and very interesting to stare at and try to figure. Nice work.

Isn't this special. I frame within a frame. Wow Michael, I'll try not to start voting in my head just yet. -COAmature

Nice one Michael! To me it looks slightly surreal (combination mirror and window)! Well done!
