The frame of the tree is exquisite as it imitates the slope of the rider's back. But IMHO there are too many branches. So why not let is come out more by cropping out some of the upper limbs and dark foreground, possibly the right purtion of the panorama? Maybe even a vertical or square crop of the tree and rider. Lots of possibilities in this well timed shot.

Thanks Lonnit:-) I think I like this shot better than some similar shots I took 35 years ago:-)hehe

With its similarities to my own silhouette series, how could I not like this? :) ~ Lonnit
Rod 07-May-2007 00:36
Thanks Gerald:-) It must be the word "natural frames" in the topic description that stopped me from feeling sick:-)
ctfchallenge06-May-2007 19:00
Almost unbelievable how Rod, who hates frames so much, can come up with three great entries for this topic ;-)

Thanks Lee:-) You can't seem to go wrong with the nice early morning light.............& no hangover:-)

Thanks again you two, Fred & Rob:-)

You have captured the tranquility of morning very well. Perhaps it was really the evening? Regardless, it "feels" like the morning. The silhouette of the tree not only acts as a natural frame but also helps block the sun and assist the exposure, which is extremely good and very tricky to accomplish well.
ctfchallenge01-May-2007 21:25
Another good one. This is no easy exposure and I'm quite impressed by how you have managed to handle the light here. Compowise it is impeccable. A beautiful pic.

Thanks Jano & Tom:-) It only feels like paradise on weekends with no work to go to:-) But it is a great place to live with no cold weather.

How nice to wake-up in paridise each day! Good capture; clouds, waves, tones, placement of biker.
ps: yes people, it is morning, check the exif

Thanks Carole it was a good morning for picys:-)
ctfchallenge29-Apr-2007 15:02
I like this - the rider is nicely framed by the tree and the sun makes it feel that this is early morning. Nice clouds too! CJ
Rod 29-Apr-2007 08:32
Thanks Andy:-) No I didn't borrow the idea from Lonnit, this has been a standard type of cliche shot since before Lonnit was born:-)
Guest 29-Apr-2007 06:38
Nicely done. I see you borrowed an idea from Lonnit Rysher in the Exhibition section, Beat me to it.
Rod 29-Apr-2007 03:02
Really lucky that morning as the tide was in & great light, I think even you would have got a good shot that morning.........Wiv Emma's help:-)
Paul 28-Apr-2007 10:48
Lovely mood. The light was your mate this morning eh?
Rod 28-Apr-2007 04:48
Thanks Brent:-) This one looks the most normal colour as the other two have that Velvia look from using Adobe RGB colour space for the first time. I will have a look at how they look in sRGB later.
Brent 28-Apr-2007 04:21
Another great one Rod. Good framing and positioning of the sun. Aam is teasing you, but I doubt you are good enough at Photoshop to cook this up fake :-) You just found yourself a good scene and shot it very well.
aam1234 28-Apr-2007 03:30
I don't know, looks like a heavily PSed photo to me. Things just don't add up.
Rod 28-Apr-2007 02:09
Thanks Doug:-)
Rod 28-Apr-2007 02:06
Yes Aammm you are delusional mate if you think this sun is up, It was taken at 6 oclock in the bleeding morning:-) Do you live in the Arctic circle, as this would be high noon in summer there a. Look at the sunlight across the water & the shadows.......Then again I could have put them in in PS:-)
Just be content wiv the knowledge Aammm that you're viewing a great shot from an even greater photographer...........................No not Paul......ME:-)

Rod 28-Apr-2007 01:44
Thanks Sue Anne, Techo & Aammm:-) This is me early morning stroll but I do cheat & use the car:-)
aam1234 28-Apr-2007 01:42
Wait. The sun is up yet the clouds are lit from behind. Is this a PS trick or am I delusional.
