*Stigma Surrounded*

A tiny flower no bigger than a quarter. I reckon it's a Cherry Blossom.

I like the B&W. It's an artistic decision that strips out the unreliable variables of color and reduces the subject to its bare elements. I think that idea comes from Stieglitz. Anyway, good choice and strong image. -tvsometime

Very nice macro, that works really well in b&w.

Flowers & macro seem made for each other. I like that it's B&W! I have dozens of flower pics in color,(so what?).
Thanks for reminding me that I love B&W photography!

While I like the sharpness and composition of the one in pending, this probably fits the "Framed" theme better. Lovely too! CJ

Great, so I'll swap this with the softer version :)
and, put this one into pending.

With the softer surrounding petals this is working better for me with the topic in mind Techo :-)

Opps, for some reason I didn't see the rest of the comments, only Rod's.

Agree with Rod. I don't get a sense of "framing" with this beautiful photo.

Thanks for your comments everyone :)

I agree that with the whole flower in focus the framing aspect dwindles. I have an earlier shot, which when I shot it decided I wanted to get more DOF for the macro aspect, as in this one here. But I think then, that the first version I've prepared, but didn't post, fits the challenge theme better. I've posted it here for comparison http://www.pbase.com/image/77824050 .

Very nice detail Techo. You know I was looking at flowers for a possible shot yesterday while walking the dog. I had a stigma framed by the surrounding cup of the flower in mind, cropped to a square. That was what I envisioned with just the stigma in proper focus to emphasize it. Maybe that wouldn't work as well as I think, but it might suggest "framing" a little better (possibly) than what you have here, which I think is still framing- but maybe doesn't scream it. Great macro work!

The stigma is surrounded but I don't get any impressions of framing, maybe it's because the petals are sharp they compete with the stigma for our attention. Nice tones but:-)
