Yes the one in pending looks very good & more natural but for the statement you're making here the glow & fade to the face works great. It just goes to show there's no saying never in photography as this would be one of the first shots I've seen where the filter helped the picy. Nicely done Mary Anne:-)
Thanks, Sharon and Rod. Rod, you're right about the glow filter, but my mom is suffering some dementia and is losing her memory and is easily confused. And despite her growing physical infirmities, her hands remain strong, so I kept them a strong focus of the shot and let her face kind of fade away. I'll post the other version in Pending, but I don't think it makes the statement that this one does. I'll be interested in hearing your comments on the two of them.

Wow at last your focusing technique that I haven't really liked so far for portraits has worked a treat here. This is a great shot of your Mum & the title blends in with the lighting superbly even though it looks like a bit of a glow type filter was used, it works really well here.
Could you post the un processed shot in pending as I would be interested in what the natural lit shot looked liked. Great work Mary Anne, Blow this one up & print it as I imagine this would give you fond memories of your Mum, it looks beautiful.
