Beautiful portrait of time itself

I'm pleased to hear that, Rod. Cheers, -mikey

In photography you only have to please yourself mate:-)
Canon DSLR Challenge06-Apr-2007 18:16
There's no doubt: You can't please everyone, no matter what you do. Sorry, Rod, I guess you're one I can't please. She's never going to look like Dolly again in this lifetime, no matter what light I use. Cheers, -mikey

At 87 I would be proud of every wrinkle but I can understand trying to flatter. This still has a flat look to it & I don't think flat is the way to flatter as it makes for a not very good picy. I think the way you light the shot to flatter is the best way. I've found the older the subject the more contrast their faces have with the rugged terrain & beautifully interesting faces. Try a shot in warm tungsten light & she will look like Dolly Parton:-)

Looks good to me, too! shu

Good work, Mikey! She seems more "there" now, more three dimensional. We may all lose some contrast as time goes on but you wouldn't want her to fade out completely! She looks like she might be a real charmer! ~Sharon

Thanks for the comments, y'all. I had added considerable contrast to Grandma Joy already, darkened her eyes, too. But at your urging I did a different conversion from the RAW, darkened the sweater for contrast effect, darkened her eyes more yet and softened her skin appearance somewhat. At 87, ya just don't have that "glamor-girl" skin-so-soft look anymore. Seems like we lose some 'contrast', too. Warm fuzzies, -mikey

I get a very gentle feel from this shot. The softness of the sweater, hair & skin work well together. Good subject & expression.

Me too, Michael! She has a wonderful face but more contrast is needed, her eyes especially need to be darkened. ~Sharon

I agree with Andy. A bit more definition and the image will look great. (I like her shadow, too.) shu

I like images like this one. I think your crop works well.

The image appears flat and a little underexposed on my screen. A little levels/curves and minimum USM will brign out the character of this "senior citizen'
