For me it's much better, well done Fritz:-)

Well folks, I made several different versions of this picture. I kept comparing them and decided on this one. It's pretty close to the original I had here. Since I sharpened it slightly different after scaling, it's not exactly the same. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks again for the input. I'm still going to play around and see what I can come up with.

The most important thing is that you like the shot Friz, so even though someone who you think knows more about photography than you suggests a change then really right or wrong you have to go with wot version you like best. Shooting to please others will deny you the main pleasures of photography mate:-)

Fair enough. I'll play around a little and see what I can come up with. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the input.

The first shot had elements of composition even with the in focus bit of background which didn't worry me that much as these colourful lollies attracted the eye. You could have just blurred that bit of backdrop if you thought it was a problem. This shot is now just "in yer face" with no feel or ambience but it is more macro. Getting some feel or ambience in a shot is the main focus of general photography & when we get that it's a real treat for the eyes.

Really? What made it better?

My thinking is that crpping it in like this draws the attention to the candy. The other shot with more of the background had a section where the background was in focus and seemed to draw my eye to it.

This may be a better macro shot but the first one was a far better picy:-)

Elips, I took your advice and cropped a bit. I think it does help out a bit. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the comments folks. I'm having fun doing this challenge. I couldn't have picked a better one to enter as my first.

I remember those sticky necks. My daughter had her way with this when I was done.

Other than cropping out some of the black background, anything else I could do to improve this one?
Rod 23-Feb-2007 09:01
No fluff on these mate, well done:-)

This has such great pastel colors! I do wonder if you cropped the right side out, all of that blank background, if the image wouldn't have more impact. Still fun the way it is with great memories! ~Sharon

I remember them from when I was a kid if that's a candy necklace. They tasted good, but they sure gave you a sticky neck. Fun image Fritz :-)

I can almost tast them....yuuuuumy!!
