Thanks all.
Brent - its with a treat I was able to get this shot.
COAmature - the light source is the MT-24EX twin head macro flash. To avoid the flash reflections ...the flash heads were turned away from the eye.

Amazing. I'm trying to figure out how you got any light on it. -COAmature

I don't know how you did it RK, but this is the closest cat eye I've ever seen - great shot! What was the working distance to get this shot? You must have drugged the cat to get this as I know my cat never would have let me get this close! CJ

The cat is angry to your camera RK - I can see that in the cat's eyes :)
Good capture, color and softness - it reminds me the posters from "Anaconda" though.

Wonderful image RK. Hope you gave the poor cat some kind of treat after being chased for two hours and then allowing you this fine capture ;-)

Had to comment again, RK you're killing me with this shot :).

Excuse me while I go and find out the price of this thing :-D

Amazing macro! Reminds me of Lord of the Rings.

Very nice, if it weren't titled, I might not have known what it was a photo of! It almost looks like you are looking down into a bottomless hole.

Thanks Rod, Sharon and Cat.

Good work, RK! This is really superb, the colors, the textures and the dark areas work very well together. ~Sharon

Thanks Jamdiver. Love macros...its really my comfort zone. The MPE is a special lens...takes awhile to get the hang of it. To start with...its manual focus and one needs a really steady hand anything past 2x. No, I did not use a tripod...dont much care (maybe I should) for tripods...secondly this particular shot would have been impossible with a tripod. This is one of the toughest shots I have taken with this lens...was running after the cat for aleast a couple of hours to get one decent shot. Things we do for a challenge....

RK, this is very nice and what an exceptional first entry to the eligible gallery.
Love this shot, the iris is so rich and varied in colour and texture.

I'm curious RK, what is the MPE lens like, do you have to set it up on a tripod to use?
