I really like the idea and concept behind the photo. Would also be neat getting a shot from the top of a cup full of coffee, more of abstract but I think it would work nicely as well. I agree with Brent about using a darker colored cup. It would put more focus on the pour. Right now the bright cup competes for attention. Still a very nice shot though.

Very nice image and looks like a great pour too. I'm not sure how I would feel about cropping out more of the cup. I'd have to see it to know. You could also consider trying this again with a darker cup to lend a little more to the theme. Nice work.

I really like the feel of this - nice composition and lighting of the BG and the coffee machine - but I think Rich has a good idea about cropping out 1/2 to 2/3 of the bottom, The bright cup is a little distracting to me too and makes me think more of a bright sunshiney morning rather than a nice cup of espresso in a cozy cafe. A little something to raise the darkness. It is an intersting shot with a lot of nice dark tones. I think I would have preferred mine black...I am referring to the cup, the white cup lets too much light into the picture...the coffee I will take with cream and sugar.

I see some real nice darkness in this pic, I might consider cropping out the lower half of cup to reduce the glare and you would still have a nice rectanular pic.

I would stay in the dark all day without my morning coffee. Probably not your translation but I like it none the less.

Rod,

not sure what is or is not dark. All I know is that a friend of mine roasted the beans for me and they are as strong as any coffee I have ever had in the UK and not the ideal bed-time drink!!

I love the creamy feel of this, with just the tad of light in the background. I definitely get the feel of the first coffee of the early a.m. Nicely done. jano

Coffee looks great mate:-) but I can't see the darkness angle in this shot. It's not an easy topic isit:-)
