Thank you CJ - I have used the burn tool but not to the extent of this challenge :)

Thank you Mary Anne - did abit more burning and yes soon after this picy taken, Josh broke my light, not sure if it is the bulb but it was only a few dollars so it not the end of the world. Thanks for the pp tip :)))

This is really great now Sue Anne - you did a terrific job of burning. I'm embarassed to admit I have never used the burn tool. I really need to try to do more with my PS Elements program. CJ

I like this much more than the original, Sue Anne. While you're playing with burning, how about darkening his right arm (the one without the light) and the page on that side. I think those changes would really emphasize the darkness surrounding him. Since re-shooting the image is not an option (I know all about how things just "break" in boys' hands, having raised 3 sons of my own.), a bit more work in PS might make this good shot even better.

Thank you Shu and Rod :)

I can't try this shot again in eligible as Josh broke the light. But I did learn alot about burning.......

I love this shot, sueanne and I loved the original, altho too bright for the challenge. I think the burning of the image has improved the "dark" feel. The flashlight does it! shu

Thanks Rod, after a long 30 min. I have come up with this, burning and this and that to create the mood you started with your version. :)

Hope this is better for the darkness challenge. Now off to bed I go.
(and now Josh seeing what I was doing, wants to burn his picture ;) )

Have a go at dropping the brightness to buggery to give this more a feel of darkness. It looks too well lit dunit:-)
