The kitchen colander called to me again when I saw this spot challenge--my first. Single light source was a drop light positioned inside the colander. Smoke is created by my hand held smoke puffer bottle (titanium tetrachloride if you must know). Many shots attempted due to random effect of smoke distribution.

I am interested to hear what others think to the variety of light spots produced.

Great idea! Really like what you've done. The lighting and smoke distribution looks perfect to me.
I had one very similar idea, using a colander with some flour to get those spot lights as the lighting source. Did some quick experiment and didn't pursue it any further. After seeing this, that's surely put to rest now.
