Oh i like the other version you took much better Mary Anne. The extra part below that first tie is what is needed. I think now a crop off the top... ? jano

I took your advice, Jano, and posted the vertical version...with some cropping off the top. Thanks for the suggestions. Here's a link to the original: http://www.pbase.com/ctfchallenge/image/70514409

Forgot to include the settings...ISO 400, 1/200 at f5.0. It was a very overcast day.

Thanks for your comments/suggestions, Rod and Jano. I was using a borrowed 50 mm lens and was playing around with the shallow DOF it offered, so I don't have anything with any other of the rusty pieces in focus. However, here's a shot from a slightly different perspective, where I've applied some gaussian blur to the BG to try to keep the eye on the front thingy. Any better?

My eye leads me to the second middle tie which is oof compared to the first. If this is a cropped verion, I would add more visual to the bottom and less to the top. Otherwise, just take some off the top Mary Anne and this will be fine I think. Great detail and I like the rusty color to match the leaves. jano

Nicely done Mary Anne you've made a great shot out of this. What Fstop did you use? As I think a bit more DOF would have suited this shot.
