I couldn't believe you did this with a PowerShot P+S camera. It makes me want to expect more from my G6.

Nice and moody portrait

Thanks Yvonne and Sueanne for commenting. Sueanne, thanks for noting the expression. It seems (to me) to be on the brink of fear and yet trying to be brave. Yvonne, I think that is the most complimentary comment I have received, and it touched my heart. Thank you. jano

Jano, This is simply put, one of the best portraits I have ever seen! Lovely background, girl, light, look. Wonderful. I love looking at it. Yvonne

Very nice Jano - it does look like a 'lost' expression. Great lighting/DOF too.

Thanks Aam, Lee and Brent. The glow comes from an overcast sky and then the sun started peeking through a thin layer of the clouds (i'm sure you know the light). So, the light was above in the trees and the lower woods darker. I added very little contrast just to pop the image out some.

As far as the natural look, it actually is natural. I've come to do portraits with Amber so that when she thinks i'm not going to take a shot, I do. For instance, I have the cam on the tripod and just aim while holding it... talk and then while I'm talking shoot when I like any expression she may have while we're discussing things. This is one of those shots. Of course, I have other images of her smiling, yawning, making faces, reaching for leaves, etc., but this expression I found interesting and reflected a mood that I matched with a title. Glad you like it. jano

HDR? Are you blind, mate. But really, did you play with the lower part J (darkening it).
Rod 18-Oct-2006 11:17
Then it's great lighting then:-)

Thanks RK and Rod for commenting. Rod, I've seen HDR but have never tried it and it is not used here. jano

Great look on the face sort of natural looking. Is this processed wiv the HDR technique Jano? Or it's just great lighting:-)
