Wow! That's what the kit lens can do on the XT? Yeah, gotta have one of those! This is really pretty. I can see why you wanted a tripod, but I think the focus is great here. The center large drop is perfectly in focus and that grounds the rest of the DOF details. Nice work here!

Thank you, C.J. and Jano. Jano, not a macro lens...just the kit lens that came with my Rebel XT, and I never got a spiderweb quite like this one before. Just in the right place at the right time, I guess (although I was wishing I had a tripod with me).

Great image Mary Anne - have you done many spider webs previously? I tried to find some in Colorado, but I swear they don't have spiderwebs there :(..... Was this done with a macro lens? Sorry but my knowledge of dslr lenses is not good. If not, you should give that a try sometime - the droplets on the web really are cool. Nicely seen. jano

Lovely shot Mary Anne. The dew drops look like strings of pearls and you did a great job of framing the spider web. CJ

Thank you all for your comments. I guess getting my shoes soaked (again!) trekking through the dewy grass was worth it. I was taking photos from the side of the road when the owner came out to ask what I was doing and then invited me to go wherever I wanted in her park-like grounds. The place was incredibly beautiful--lawns, flower beds, a pond, wetlands, streams, wooded areas--and of course, the spiderwebs covered with dewdrops. I felt like asking her if she would adopt me!

Good choice of background as well. It's often easy to forget about what is shown behind the subject itself, it can ruin a perfect photo. I love this one. Well seen.

Yes lovely shot with good bokeh too. Really nice Mary Anne:-)

Beautiful shot. Amazing how perfect the dew drops are and the bokeh of the BG sets it off very nicely. Great capture.

fitting title for a beautiful pattern, very nicely captured. it sure looks fragile with all the precariously balanced dewdrops. - b.c.
