Very nice warmth you have captured here CJ.

Jano, the patterns I wanted to emphasize were the wooden pegs and the rows of wood slats used to make the canoe and thought this perspective showed that best rather than a macro shot. Canoes are very long so the uncompressed view included a lot of extraneous "stuff", if I am understanding what you are referring to. I had a bit longer image but there was some distracting light in the lower right that was cropped out. Maybe I need a new lens to get the perspective I really want! LOL! Thanks for the comments. CJ

CJ - I was going to say (being the macro queen as I am lol) that I would have tried a maco on this....BUT... the patterns in this photo are amazing. As with all wood, patterns are scattered and unique and this image does justice to that! For me, this image would be pefect if it wasn't so compressed and was seen in a larger view. Be that as it may - good eye. I love your images from your viewpoint. jano

Thanks all! OK - cropped and sharpened a little. CJ

I really like rich, old wood like this (btw "wood" was on my list of candidate topics for the challenge). the lower R highlight doesn't bother me so much, and I'm not sure if Rod was being serious about being sharper, but I do wish it were a bit, to bring out the grain and really let us "feel" it even more. still, it's great - b.c.

I think the crop queen is right & while you're at it could you get it sharper:-)

Ohhh, nice warm wood, CJ! I love the pattern of the nails. You do know what I am going to say though don't you? If you cropped the right hand side just enough to exclude the bright area at the bottom the image would be that much richer. Really nice! ~Sharon
