How many of us try to get the annoying fence to be perfection!!! Well done Henry. I don't know why but I tend to want just a little more sharpness in the background. But ya, the pattern is well seen. Good job. jano

definitely a pattern here! and effective with the nicely blurred background to give it some texture while your eyes remain focused on the net - b.c.

Thank you all for you very nice suggestions and comments. If I shot from any angle but straight on, I would lose the tree in some part of the background, this was the only way to keep a somewhat even, dark tone to the BG. Any angle would have picked up a very light sky and washed out the strings of the goal. But I'm sure would have created a different and interesting pattern. I also tried shooting this from the other side to the soccer field and those results were terrible.

Very nice, Henry! The out of focus trees look like a watercolor painting and grid of the net makes a nice graph of them. ~Sharon

Nice 'simple' pattern but I like the sharp squares and DOF background.

I'm really sorry, but I think I have to agree with Rod :o)
(please don't tell ;o) )

I think Henry was trying to avoid cliches by shooting straight on which I think is what makes it interesting. On the angle would be very predictable.........I think:-)

Me too, the word "simple" is the first to come to mind when seeing it.
Agree with Paul, you might want to play with the angle here Henry. Just a thought.

Nice and simple indeed and it works quite well. I'd prefer to see the photo not looking straight on to the net though. If you got closer to the net and looked sort of across it at an angle which would make all different shapes of the squares and use the focus better would make a more interesting photo.

Simple it is but as with a lot of simple shots it works a treat. Well seen for this challenge Henry well done mate:-)
