BTW I've been generally pleased with the kit lens despite all the negative comments I've read. The biggest drawback, I think, is that it's so slow and thus sometimes doesn't provide the narrow DOF that I'm looking for. Still, it was well worth the price.

How's this, Abs? It's a little lighter in the middle, giving a bit of detail there. Thanks for the suggestion...I think it looks better this way.

who needs a macro lens, if one can get such nice details with a kit lens. very well lit shot to give depth perception. btw, you still have a little chance to open up shadows only in the dark center-circle. -Abstract
great shot of some of nature's beautiful patterns. I like the crop, my eyes are forced to take a closer and closer look at the detailed repeating patterns - b.c.
