I didn't see the other shot, but the shaprened eyes really make this dog photo come to life. Great use of shallow DOF.

Those eyes totally make this great shot. Hope Layla got a treat for doing this Mary Anne? Very nice comp too.

The eyes look really good now and as far as I'm concerned you can almost never overdo it on cute doggie eyes! CJ

Thanks for your suggestion, Carole. I never realized that you could sharpen just selected parts of an image with PSE. It certainly did brighten up the eyes, but do you think I overdid it a bit?

I don't mean to try and retake this! If you have PS Elements or some other editing program, you can just select the eyes and apply sharpening to them alone. I tried it at 300%, Radius .5 and threshold 1 and the eyes brightened right up. Cute dog! Our first dog was half basset and half beagle - he looked like a weightlifting beagle on steroids but we loved him! :-) CJ

Good one Maryanne :) Reminds me of my attempt at Mya whose image is the header for pending. You have to take these shots when you can as they can move so fast, and obviously it would be hard with a tripod. Very cute!!! jano

CJ, those eyes are about as sharp as they're going to get. You wouldn't believe how many shots I took while she kept jumping around--mostly of an ear, her back, the floor, etc. No, Sharon, I didn't get any nose prints, but only because I kept pulling the camera back (and out of focus, of course). I should have remembered to use burst mode with A1 Servo. Maybe I'll try again before the challenge is over. BTW she is a beagle, and she wants nothing more than to be loved.

When this pops up on my screen I get a strong urge to lean over and kiss her on the nose! Did you end up with nose prints on your lens?! An excellent "looking down" shot! ~Sharon

Cute Mary Anne! I've been trying to get my dog to pose like this but he won't do it. What breed - beagle? Can you sharpen up his eyes a little though as it seems as just his nose is sharp. CJ
