Trying this with a starry sky. That would be a great idea, I had it myself ;) came short on planning it. Still it would great to try this for the challenge or not. -Techo

I totally was think merry-go-round too when I saw this. The colors aren't quite right for it, but it looks as though you are zipping through the universe. Very nice Sharon.

I have my dad's tripod which has a pan head.... now that I think of it..... why couldn't i just use the timer? But this great shot is already taken .... I have some more ideas though!! Thanks for the inspiration Sharon :) jano

This is just simply awesome as far as background blur!! I will have to try this ... but do not think I could do it w/o the cable release. I can definitely try it with another subject! I do agree that the hat is a definite additon, and also agree that the subject is not very sharp. Great example with which to learn from!! jano

Sharon, I had figured that you were sitting on one of those old merry-go-rounds and had somehow attached your camera to the center and were shooting with a timed release. But a yardstick and cable release--not to mention getting yourself in the right position--YIKES...too complicated for me. I like your background, by the way. --Mary Anne

Yay, Joem, it works! Sorry I can't turn it off! Thanks, Mary Anne! The secret is a panning head on the tripod. Pieter reminded me that I am using his tripod, which was intended for video cameras and comes with a panning head, a head that moves fluidly horizontally. So I attached a yardstick to the head so that it stuck out in front of the camera and ran my cable release along it so that I could hold onto both the release and the yardstick at the same time. The rest was just perfecting my timing. I discovered that I had to already be moving when I tripped the shutter and that I couldn't really take a step but had to just sort of rock forward in order to stay fairly sharp. I am pretty soft as it is but it was the best I could manage in the time I had. This would be a fun thing to try with a more interesting background. ~Sharon
