Thanks Jano for sharing this shot with us west coast folks who don't get to see fireflys.

Never seen one this close, great shot..:>

Thanks Jano ;) hehe
I saw one of these fireflies up close this evening, they are tiny and you did a great job finding one in the daytime and with the overall shallow DOF you did a very good job with the overall focus. Never knew they had those red highlights on their shell.

Thanks Britt, Sueanne and Neo - I'm sure his little bottom does light up during the day, but you just can't see it cause it isn't dark out. The first days of "summer" are always signaled by these guys. jano

Amazing what you can find when you start crawling around the yard. He is very colorful; I guess it is not enough that their rump lights up - they apparrently need a neon body as well.

DOF or bokeh, I like the shot!

You should name this one, YOWCH! Looks painful... nice capture Janey :)

Thanks Sharon and Brent. I have Bokeh? My interpretation of bokeh is round DOF thingys in the background so I guess if they are there, that's ok. But, I think if I don't have a dslr I can be allowed more than one bokeh shot :) This has been a learning xp with DOF and i'm kinda excited about it even far beyond this challenge! jano

Beautiful Jano! Really love the color here and the littlebugger is quite sharp. I think this works more than fine as an allowable one bokeh background shot :-) Really nice work.

I had no idea these little guys were so colorful. Fun macro, Jano. You can almost see the glow of his light! ~Sharon

Of course there's DOF all around this in focus subject silly billy, but we can't see where it starts, we can only see where it ends. In a DOF challenge we really need to see all the DOF to make it relevant, otherwise any shot taken with a sharp subject matter in the history of the universe would be on topic & that's no challenge isit:-)
This shot is on topic for the point & shoot brigade but I was paying you the compliment that you can do a full DOF shot, which you did wiv your measuring rule.
ctfchallenge08-Jul-2006 21:59
Wot's improper about it Rod? There's DOF totally around the subject? jano
Rod 08-Jul-2006 21:31
Very nicely done & on topic from a point & shoot camera BUT because you're Jano I'm expecting a proper DOF shot from you:-)
