This is the third annual Procession of the Species. It was started by a group of artists and is a celebration of life and creativity. For several weeks before the parade people can go to an open studio to work on their costumes. They are supposed to portray creatures and to use recycled materials. Children are especially encouraged to participate and there are artists at the studio to help them with their costumes. It's one big costume party. The parade goes from the library to a park below the old city hall which is now a museum of history and art. This is the first time that I attended and I now plan to go every year. I wasn't in costume. I spent my time taking pictures. You can see more here: http://www.pbase.com/ptkitty/parade
