I love this shot! Yvonne

Then well done Alexei, you have succeeded mate:-)
alexeig06-May-2006 15:19
Yes, Rod, I want this to be contrasty, this was my aim. Thanks for comment, though
Rod 06-May-2006 00:45
Of course the contrast was there under the equatorial sun but that is a cop out Alexei, it's up to you as the photographer to expose the shot to approximate how the eye saw it or how you want to present it. You could have exposed for the highlights & lost shadow detail & this shot wouldn't be contrasty at all
You could have simply pointed your camera at the sky & locked the exposure for a better looking shot. Or I should say wot I call a better looking shot.
Saying that's how the scene was, is a nonsense when we as photographers have total control of how to portray the scene. (especially wiv a 5D):-) Congratulations mate:-)
Still like the composition:-)
alexeig05-May-2006 16:25
Yes, and contrast was already there, under midday equatorial sun
alexeig05-May-2006 16:24
Many thanks for comments, everybody. Paul and Rod: yes, I have a color version too but it looks a tad too postcard like. I like this one more. The sky is exactly as it was btw
Paul 05-May-2006 10:09
I think you have a superb eye for colour Alex which is something i always enjoy seeing in your photos. I really don't like this treatment at all. The harsh contrast makes a for a geometrical nightmare with all the differing angles and the wonderful sky looks photoshopped on which i know it isn't. I don't know if you did this in black and white because some of the sky was blown to the top left but like Julians photo of the japanese teenagers i'm dumbstruck as to why this is black and white.
Rod 04-May-2006 11:37
This looks to have far too much contrast robbing it of the tonal range that would really make this a fine shot. Well composed though:-)

Ditto all the other comments - Fantastic image. Is it one temple or more? Great b&w conversion - the image suits it well. I bet it is just as beautiful in color. jano
