North Lake Whatcom Trail

I took everybody's advice and toned down the highlights. I agree that this is much better. Thanks for the suggestion. Ann

Very nice, Anne. The best part is seeing spring/summer start to unfold in the Northwest. Yvonne

Cool! Thanks! That makes sense now!

The out of focus background is what people refer too as bokeh. But bokeh I believe is more judged when there are lots of highlights that reflect the shape of the diaphragm in the lens. They show as blurred hexagons & the more leaves in the diaphragm gives better looking hexagons therefore better bokeh..
This shot has the beginnings of the diaphragm shapes in the highlights but there's a lot better out there.

This is a really pretty shot and I'm still confused about what bokeh is. Someone else commented on their new lens' "nice bokeh" and I don't get it at all!

This is very pretty.

You have a one track mind Paul. ........Me, I wouldn't go anywhere near it, it might unfurl & kiss me:-)

Nice shot Ann! The twirl almost looks like a caterpiller all rolled up to me but I like Gerald's simile better! This looks even nicer now that the highlights are toned down. Very graceful and pretty! :-) CJ

Like it better.

Beautiful detail captured here Ann and a very pleasing bokeh indeed. Nice work!

Terrific image, Ann. The twirl looks like the scorll of a violin. Even though I do not find it markedly overexposed, I think that toning down the highlights would make it even better.

Yes I think that's wot they call bokeh Paul, especially when you get all the little highlights blurred into the shape of the iris in the lens. The more leaves in the iris the better.
I really like this shot too but it's overexposed for me. I downloaded it to Photoshop & darkened it with the curves tool & a slight sharpen. It came up looking terrific for me. I will post in the DP thread when me photo site decides to start working.

I like this. Wonderful nature. I like the background effect-is that what people mean by Bokeh?
