As for post processing, i don't like Deo's photos of people at all with the saturated colour, they remind me of an advertising campaign. This one though i really like because of the subject matter. It feels like an old Hammer Horror film where they would obviously film midnight scenes in full daylight and just put a crappy fliter over the camera to make it seem as if it was the middle of the night. This has such a great menacing but almost comic-mock horror-feel with the stark crosses standing out and that wonderful patch of sky that reminds me of how Spielberg used to do his stormy summer night skies.

Good point Rod. :-)

I am also not into heavy post processing as, for me, it takes away the beauty of the photo and animate it instead. I PP a photo not to change it but strengthen it to a point that what I want seen in the photo stands out. If you've seen the original shot of this entry, you will probably not take a second look at all as the colors were flat, the lighting was flight, and the shadows not even noticeable. Graveyards are supposed to give you an eerie and sometimes emotional feeling, and that was not achieved with the original photo.

Thanks everyone for the comments and more power to CTF Challenge!

I'm not against post processing as much as you lot think I am. I'm against looking at a shot & seeing the post processing.
We should be admiring a picy however it's achieved, But because many in these forums, mainly Cslr challenge have a much higher skill at post processing than they do at photography, therein lays the problem.
Deo's work is walking a fine line at the moment & we haven't seen enough of his work yet. I can see his post processing but his shots are looking good so far as he's not into the pretty processing like others. Because they have a very similar look to them from the PP even though they are of different subject matter, this can lead to boredom from the viewer. So if his future shots have this same look he might be developing a problem, or a style of his own. We shall see:-)
At the moment you are going real well Deo mate:-)

Processing? Wot processing? I like how the crosses really stand out against the ground - nice shadowing also. jano

Nice conversion of a daytime shot into a night shot. I would probably clone out totally the lights of the city in the background to give it more of an isolated feel. You did a great job processing this.

Nicely done.
This is one image where processing changes the feel of an image without making it feel processed. If that makes any sense. :-)

The processing is what makes it interesting. Wonder what Rod will say of this, though; will he say it's still a picy? :-) /Oved

Thanks CJ, MarkJay and Paul.

Yeah, the photo was taken at around 1 pm. When the original came out, it was a bit flat. So I thought of post processing it with the crosses standing out as a result. :-)

Great picture Deo, and great post processing! From the Exif, it looks like you took this during the day to get those nice shadows and lighting. Good contrast with the dark sky and I like the composition too. :-) CJ

Graves, how grave! :-) I like the image perspective and colors. Markjay

This is great. I love the mood with the menacing deep sky in the background and the crosses standing out starkly. I imagine Wacko Jacko to leap up and start warbling Thriller. Excellent composition, colour and lighting, well done.
