Wonderful perspective!! Very cool!!
Rod 20-Apr-2006 12:07
Rod never mentioned smoke because I see clouds not smoke. I see clouds because I see buildings & not chimneys. I know Paul saw buildings in shot’s of chimneys. I don’t know why he gets so mixed up, well I do really but the medication is obviously having no effect.....................me poor Emma:-)

This looks really good Brent with the clouds and blue sky surrounding the twin buildings. Great perspective too! :-) CJ

Very good perspective and the clouds do indeed look like smoke. :-)

Thanks for your comments all. I was thinking as I was shooting and the clouds were quickly rolling through that they looked a bit like smoke from a chimney.
Guest 19-Apr-2006 11:51
nice perspective, very well done!
Paul 19-Apr-2006 11:27
Ric...ooops :>) Great minds think alike though eh? I notice Rod never mentioned it.
Rod 19-Apr-2006 10:51
Paul has a book of quotes so if you see an intelligent comment from him you will know where he got it from:-)
Guest 19-Apr-2006 10:36
If only I'd said that! ;o)
Paul 19-Apr-2006 06:50
Yes, this is a better photo, the buildings are still hideously ugly and look more like chimneys . In fact it looks as if the clouds are billows of polution coming out of the chimney on the left.

very nice perspective. chimneys and white smoke...what an imagination. i like it. -Abstract

This is a great picture of interesting looking towers - they are reminiscent of tall chimneys and the white 'smoke' adds to this allusion.
Brent 17-Apr-2006 14:13
Oh good, thanks Rod. Yes, maybe Paul will come around :-)
Rod 17-Apr-2006 06:52
For me this is far better & I like the prominence of the monorail tracks better too. I prefer the natural looking colours too. Even the sweep of the cloud adds to it.
Paul knows bugger all really:-)
Brent 17-Apr-2006 03:03
Okay, we had a break in the rain and I had a chance to re-shoot this one today. The composition is much the same as before, but the conditions were much different this time. Thanks everyone for your previous input- looking better?.
Brent 16-Apr-2006 05:51
Yes, these aren't the most beautiful towers Paul- I have a prominent view of the one on the right from my office which is right across the street. But they are pretty swanky inside and the upper floors have quite the awesome view. Bill Clinton visited Seattle a lot when he was president and always stayed in one of these. I'd still like to experiment with this shot featuring a blue sky with clouds, but we have nothing but rain lately (we get blue skies now and then Rod). These ugly tracks carry the once futuristic monorail that was built for the '62 worlds fair. The funky thing isn't running right now because one of the drivers crashed on a curve recently and they are reviewing safety.
Rod 16-Apr-2006 00:08
I think Brent meant this a a nice look at these structures not the dismal picy you paint yer boofhead. Who wants a blue sky! they have other colour skies in the States unlike down here:-)
Paul 15-Apr-2006 23:50
I quite like the brutalist nature of these incredibly ugly buildings, they're more like chimnies than a place to live and this angle catches it very well. The ugly concrete structure running diagonally gives another hit of vileness. The overcast sky in this context works well. A blue sky would change the feel in the wrong way for me.
Brent 15-Apr-2006 22:08
Thanks Britt and Sue Anne. This was taken downtown on 5th Ave. just east of the Pike Place Market Sue Anne. You may recognize those tracks are for the Monorail, and those are the Westin Towers.

I like the perspective and the pp work done to it. Where in Seattle is this taken at?
Britt 15-Apr-2006 20:29
Nice perspective :)
Brent 15-Apr-2006 14:13
Thanks for your input Rod. I may reshoot this when we have anything but a grey sky here in Seattle- but the weather forecast isn't looking good for the rest of this challenge period. There isn't much color in any of the structures, but I tried playing around with the channel mixer to hopefully make it more Artiiiistic looking, maybe that didn't work so well.
Rod 15-Apr-2006 10:18
This has nice angles but the ole white sky distracts dunit. Is this the colour of the buildings or did you use a photo filter? I tried this in B&W with a darker sky & I think it works a bit better. Well seen though:-)
