Actually Alexeig.....

This was an old meetinghouse back in the 1766's which was later turned into a German Schoolhouse. It isn't used anymore, just preserved as a newer bigger church has been built since.

Here it sits with a bigger outward view

I added abit more contrast / saturation. I think the sky isn't right, but due to the recompression.

Beautiful old building. Is it really a church?
*, if I may:
- a bit more of context will make this picture more interesting, unless the context is very distracting
- some PS is needed: contrast/saturation

Hi Sue Anne. The shutters and slope really make this a feel good shot. It is fun to view. Yvonne

Thank you Paul :) I would have liked the sky to be abit more blue but somehow it shows grayer skies.

Very nice Sueanne. Most of all with this i like the feeling of light and air from the colour.

Thank you Sharon and Brent - I am having lots of fun learning on this. This old church goes back to the 1800's and I am sure it has been restored :)

Very nice, Sueanne! I love the tipsey shutters, they make the very solid square house seem a little more lively! ~Sharon

Very nice sharp shot Sueanne,; it looks like you have that new camera working well for you. Have fun with it!

Well you did just fine here Sue Anne at this size. It's amazing how different a nearby colour is when we're cloning, it's all trial & error & I don't know the correct way to do it. But as far as darker & lighter goes I just select my spot as close as possible & do most of it by selecting from the left or right. Sometimes it works better by magnifying the shot other times it seems better small. Must read up on it one day:-)
They say F8 is the sweet spot of the kit lens so you can do landscapes & every shot at F8. If you want to maximise depth of field effects then open up to F4. Even L lenses are better at F8 than wide open so maybe it doesn't matter all that much & I'm just being lazy leaving my lens on F8:-) But for landscapes there’s no advantage that I can think of by opening the aperture so F8 & F11 or F16 would be best. I haven't tried but take some landscape shots just outside your back door will do, & take the same shot at all the different apertures & see if you can see any difference. Let us know wot you find.

Thank you Rod... cloning doesn't come easy to me. I gave it a go but somehow the sky doesn't seem good - abit blotchy. Thanks for the tip of f8 - f11. Are you saying that is good for landscapes on the kit lens? (I'll give it a go) No new lens at this time, hubby says work with this for awhile ;)

Lovely composition & lighting it looks great. The slope really helps add interest too. Terrific shot Sue Anne:-)
The overhead wires in the sky on the left are still showing so you can clone them out for perfection.
They reckon the kit lens performs best at F8 or F11 so I leave mine on F8 most of the time. Only really noticable when you blow the shot up big, so it's no big deal really.
I hope you show this shot to hubby so he will realise you're now ready for your next new lens:-)
