They were Japanese guys rafting and Western girls sunbathing - that's why all eyes went to the girls.
I cropped it a bit more and indeed it looks better.

This made me laugh! Almost ALL the guys have their eyes on the sunbathers instead of the river! I think I'd crop out a few inches off the top which brings the sun worshipers even more part of the picture. Nice shot! :-) CJ

Love your title, Julian. The sunbathers look almost as if they've been placed there just for the edification of all the rafters going by.
