New York City

It was a cold winter evening, and he was playing "Amazing Grace" at the site of the World Trade Center as people filed slowly by.

CJ, I didn't go back to the original but to an earlier PSed version that hadn't been cropped as much. The colors are just a slight bit different. You have a good eye!

I see what you mean about not wanting to degrade the picture by cropping too much. Did you go back to your original image to do the cropping? I think the crop makes this more dramatic although the colors seem a little different now. I still like it a lot though :-) CJ

A bit creepy: the guy seems almost faceless

The two reds really link together now. The comp looks really good now. Goodun.

Rod and CJ, following your suggestions, I've cropped some off the left and right sides, but I think this is about as far as I can go. I've cropped so much off the original, which was taken in poor light and required a bit of PS-ing, that the image is really starting to degrade. However, I think it's much stronger compositionally. Thanks for your help.

I like this the photo, It tells a story all on it's own without the comments, but they do help set the melancholy mood here.

Wonderful picture Mary Anne! Nice lighting which highlights his jacket and there is even red in the background which leads the eye from one red to the other! This really works well :-) I agree with Rod on the right crop but I'd also crop the left side up to the edge of the scarf and a touch of the top to get rid of the rest of the person on the right. Then all of the attention would be directed at the subject. Great shot :-) CJ

Maybe just leaving half of Father Christmas in.

I like the two reds but I would crop the coat out of the right side. Well done Mary Anne.
