The only hidden message Cats is the shot shot looks very graphic:-) You did really well getting it to work.

Thank you all for looking and sharing your thoughts on this one.
This has been done ton of times... but I wanted to do it for myself, as I realized it that this is not as easy to get it right as it looks. So, thats my reason for doing it. Plus "Time" is also an important parameter in photography. So I somehow wanted to capture Time from photographic point of view.

Rod, LOL, I find your comment really funny!!! Hope there is no other meaning behind it, as I failed to get it. :)

Lee, you guessed it right! These rubber balls can really bounce. This one also has some kind of fluorosence which glows in low light, so ideal for photographying in the dark.

Abs, you have a keen eye. I'll give you that. Yes this is the on camera flash and yes it is 40 counts! However although the exif shows T=2 sec, the flash actually fired only for 1.25 sec out of it. I wanted to keep a little more bufer for the shutter just in case.

Andy, That was the exact reason behind my doing this shot. From my school days, I saw these kinds of photos in my Physics books and I always wondered how did they do that. And I always thought one day I will do this. I tried this several different ways earlier with several different camera+light+flash combinations. But, was never successful. This time the topic gave me enough motivation to retry it again and I think I got it right.
Thanks everyone -Cat

Cat, I particularly like this image also. After the challenge I'd be interested in some hints on your post processing...not play by play just a lead to get started on! - andrew

Well worth the effort. I think the passing of time with this type of stop motion image is well illustrated.

this is cool. i like this. btw did the camera fire flash that many times (i count about 40 of them) within 2 seconds? i am curious. -Abstract
