Thank you both. Yvonne, your comment about my mom looking "elsewhere" made me take another look at the photo, for I thought she was looking pretty directly at the camera. I think your observation is pretty accurate, though, as there is a sense of her eyes not quite focusing, which probably is a reflection of the state of her mind these days. I'm always amazed at how the camera can reveal truths about people that may not be so apparent to our eyes. --Mary Anne
