I saw this and swore, because I have some pretty neat images of plasma globes from my trip to the Boston Museum of Science.....I forgot all about them!

Neat image and interpretation!

Cool shot! I like the unique orientation of the photo.
Lonnit, I do too remember that topic, though I also remember taking those plasma ball photos soon after I got the powershot. Not sure what this thing can do to the 20D+Lens but it surley had no effect on the s410. Looks like most of energy here was pointed towards the hand, though I didn't try touching the ball with the camera with nothing else to take the heat.

Didn't someone in the forums say you could mess up your camera with those things? ~ Lonnit

Hello erverbody. Yes, it is a plasma ball/sphere/globe. Yes, it is a "normal" photo shot. Markjay was pretty close. Here the details. First mystery, the picture is upside down! I put my left hand on the glass, my right hand is holding the 20D pressing my new 10-22mm EF-S lens against the globe to be more stable. It is a "twice throug glass" shot to be precise. Putting my hand on the glass let you see the effect of the glass but not the glass itself. This is a re-shot from one of my old plasma globe shots. This time it was much easier with the 10-22mm. I love this lens. Thanks for all the positive comments!

That's it Mark a light sphere, that would explain it.

Interesting image! Was it taken through glass to somehow come up with this image? jano
Markjay 24-Oct-2005 10:18
I can see you shot this through one of those "touch spheres" that draw light / energy to where you touch the outer glass of the sphere. Ofcourse we can't actually SEE the sphere and, that has both good and bad. Good that it was not a distraction in what appears to be a beautiful abstract / graphic looking image. Bad in that it doesn't convey the whole story of what we are looking at. No matter, it's still a very intrigueing image!

Only superman could draw that quick with an LED 1/20th sec So it will be interesting to find out from Othmar if this is a photo or a graphic. Welcome to the challenge Othmar:-)

Curious about the setup, your hand is below a glass plate, and all lit with LED?
Great effect.
