Three great entries Rod. I'm still trying to decide which of your three entries I like better. You say you're lucky ;) well I certainly like the the whole composition of this shot. Just how you've framed the most interesting part of the landscape between the barb wire while the other two halves are virtually void of any detail. Also mother nature really took a hand in this shot with the center group of trees just placed there for this shot. The barb wire kinda reminds of a scene... like beyond this fence lies the garden of eden?

Thanks young Paul:-)

Thanks Pedro but don't get too excited as I think these were just lucky shots:-)

Rod, this shot is amazing. Again you surpriseed me. The mist, the trees, the wire, just great. Well done.

Beautiful. I love the ephemeral feeling here with the mist lasting but a few moments but i really can't see the point of the barbed wire. It's sillohuetted but so are the trees. Is this some subconciousness self denying the beauty and trying to add some menace that doesn't exist? The last few vestiges of bucolism as suburbia and the bastard white shoed ringbarkers move ever closer to turn this into brick veneer? Is the wire protecting the paddocks from the bastard developers or keeping you out? I like it a lot.

Thanks Mary Anne:-)

Ooops...I got so thrown off by this new ARTIISTE Rod that I even spelled my name wrong.

Simply beautiful, Rod. You have really shown a different style in this challenge, and I'm no longer able to identify your entries from the thumbnails. We're all trying to meet a higher standard now. Good going!

LOL - "BS Artist".... I can now move on. :) jano
Rod 08-Oct-2005 13:23
Thanks Britt, most of mine are just lucky shots, yours will come if you take enough picys
Jano here you go then, a signed & framed picy of yours truly. You will never marry me now:-)
The posters who sign their shots may have a point about it stopping the shots being stolen, as this shot has never been stolen:-)

If you get up real early Britt before the fog rises above the dog poop and cig butts you may find something, thats what Rod does. ;-) rich

I'd like to know where the bleep you all live to get all of these creations of beauty appearing as if from nowhere. I look in my backyard and see leaves that need raking and some cigarette butts that blew out of my ashtray. Oh and some smeared dog poop that my son wiped off his shoe.......(need I go on????) In other words, I'm in "landscape envy" here....

Nice image!

Rod 08-Oct-2005 01:21
Jano, now you think me shots are good enough to sign, is there any chance you will break up with Iso & marry me? :-)
janewigginsphotography08-Oct-2005 01:11
I think you should sign it Rod... "just in case..." :) Not to mention it would be so funny if you did.... lol jano
Rod 08-Oct-2005 01:04
Gawd at this rate I might start signing me shots:-) Thanks Rich, Jano:-) Thanks Steve I don't know if it's just this topic or I'm starting to get a bit of an eye again that I lost in my 30+ years away from photography. Mind you I wasn't very good back then so the only way is up:-) These challenges are doing me the world of good, the only danger is shooting shots that we think other posters will like instead of what we really like. Not a problem at my age though:-)

So your OK with sunrises but not sunsets? I like the barbed wire frame. Good show.
janewigginsphotography08-Oct-2005 00:39
Fantastic Rod! The mist in the background with the sun highlighting it is a very nice effect. Of course, the silhouette of the barbed wire brings with it a feeling that this beautiful vew is being cut off from view (which is the artiiiiist in you)! jano
Guest 07-Oct-2005 23:55
Now come on Rod, stop trying to be an artiiist. It just doesn't suit you. I absolutely love this photo including all the halos from the sun, the mist patch, the barbed wire I could go on. A great capture. I guess the 5D is going to have to come out again this weekend to try and keep up! I have loved the way this challenge has changed fantastic "Rod shots" into fantastic photos, that is a compliment by the way, I also love "Rod shots".... - Steve
