Go on Mary Anne you will love the XT & wot's better I'm sure the XT will love you. Then you can start doing hand held shots just like our Prima Donna Yvonne:-)

You know, it's in shots like this, with various subtle hues, that I can really see the difference between my G3 and the XT or other DSLRs. I just don't think my camera could pick up all those nuances of tone. I can feel an XT calling!

A glorious slab of colour and crispness with a rather pleasant smell thrown in for good measure.

I agree Rod, I am more thoughtful and careful. When I use want to be less patient, I get out the S-1. I am getting a bum shoulder lugging them around. Worse than diaper bags. I am starting to like it a lot, but see the need for p.s. skills of some kind. With the S-1 on manual, I could tell by eye how to set the speed and F stop with the xt, what I am seeing does not change so I rely more on the little dial-ee thing a ma jigger. Oh my, is this camera fun. By the way, LOL the hand-held comment was for Mary-Anne to let her know how the kit lens works (in the hands of a woman)......Yvonne

Listen to miss clever, she hand held this one. Well I've got some shots that are hand held too, miss smarty pants:-) Now for the critique......cough....cough. I find this shot too dark, too light, etc, etc. Haha:-) This is great for your first entry Yvonne using the beast & the sharpness looks fine to me, so until you get into the USM thingy it looks like Picassa will do the trick. The colours & composition work really well, well done (for a girl) :-) How do you like using the slr? I find it involves me more with the subject than it did with the P&S.

p.s. Hand held. Yvonne

Jano...that jasmine soap smells so wonderful, I have had it for a year and can't use it!
This was a fun shot to take. Mary Anne, with the kit lens and I could not even figure out how to add the USM. I managed to get to it and set numbers, but heck after that I was lost! So, it had a bit of sharpening in Picassa. Thats it. Yvonne

Lovely colors, Yvonne. And a worthy first entry for your 350XT entry. Was this taken with the kit lens?

ohhhhh I love soaps! I bet that Jasmine smells wonderful. Very colorful photo here Yvonne! The soap with the raffeta around it looks interesting as well. If you're like me, you hate to even open them....much less use them :) Nice and sharp. jano
