Elote is the actual piece of corn down here in Guatemala. They have a name for the corn plant and the piece of corn and a different one for corn in general.

Agree with Lonnit, no need to mess around with it. It's beautiful as is.

I wouldn't touch it - it's got a beautiful satin lustre that shouldn't be messed with. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! ~ Lonnit

thanks for the nice compliments lonnit, iso, and aam1234. these black and white conversions are pretty fun. as far as sharpening goes i didn`t add any unsharp mask fine sharpening. i did some unsharp mask for contrast but didn`t add any for the details. right now i`m looking at this on a different monitor (not my laptop) and it looks a little less sharp. after i resize on my laptop it`s hard to see what i`m looking at because of the resolution. believe it or not i added noise to this which i could see plain as day on my monitor but i can barely see it on this monitor. i`ll give it another look when i get home on monday and maybe i`ll burn out a little bit of the top corner! thanks again, atothev

Simply excellent. For * wish there is a bit of sharpening there (or maybe not). Composition is very attractive too.

I thought, like Iso, that we all know the colors. The color would just be a distraction from the texture. This image is a textbook example of when to shoot BW. Kudos!!! ~ Lonnit

Great treatment on this subject which we all instantly know should be green and yellow. I'm drawn to the details and imperfections of the pieces themselves compared to what I would normally see as a whole. I like the opposing diagonals in the background but the white thingy to the top right corner is slightly distracting?
