Thanks all. Been messing about with the cropping on this but i'm finding losing any of the sky loses that gradation from the deep blue of the higher reches down to the lighter sky by the sun and then to the blue of the record. As so often happens here though i prefer by far my original shot as far as composition was concerned but the filthy lens really distracted. Reshoots never seem to work as they lose whatever it was that was the attraction in the first place as far as the photograpeher is concerned. Different for the viewer of course.

Paul, This is a cool shot. Yvonne

Great eye you have

Oops, just re-read your comment and you see it fine in Large. I also misunderstood your first assessment that Rod agreed with and now know what you mean. I'll leave this as is for a few hours and then delete and play around with cropping of the sky, i have quite a few images to play with.

Thanks Mark, something is going weird in PBase. The new image that i view in Large size is the new photo with no smudges in the sky, no label but when i click on original or small i get a distorted ugly image of the shot that i removed. Most odd. Try clicking on Large and see what you get. I might have to delete the image and repost.

Paul: I just checked out the "new image" you uploaded. In "original size",it appears (*) really distorted. In addition there are some pale smudges or (?) up in the sky area of the image. In addition, part of the record label appears, crooked. When I go to "large size / view" the image appears as I saw it before... no record label showing, no distortion showing. I still think you might want to seriously consider cropping off some of that expanse of sky, based on my comments earlier (*) and apparently I'm not alone in that opinion, Rod seems to agree. Thank you for sharing this with us Markjay

Okay. I cleaned the lens and took this again this arvo, good job the sun never stops shining. The photo i smuch larger with a thinner crop and i didn't take the label this time but concentrated on the beautiful blues. I'm looking at it on a 19inch monitor so hopefully those of you with smnaller monitors will get the scrolling excitment:>)

The record is Out Of The Blue by E.L.O hence the title.

Good thinking Paul, I agree with Mark's point, it makes it stronger for me.

Creative thinking, Paul. The only thing that I could notice to improve upon, IMO (*) is that when I view your image and scroll my window so that only half of the sky is shown, the image is more visually impactful. Your subject is honed in on, by the eyes that way. Again, great shot. Markjay

I never would have known that, Aam...and I used to teach English as a Second Language. I can only wish that I were as fluent in another language!

For your info Paul, English is not my first language.

But hey! I never said "rubbish". I don't even know how to spell it (copied it from your sentence).
aam1234 13-Aug-2005 08:16
Paul, I say so many stupid things, I only let the semi-decent things make it to "comments" :)
Paul 13-Aug-2005 06:09
Aam, what happened to your comment about noit liking it 'cos it's like your rubbish? I was going to say it's not that bad:>)))

Thanks Abs, you've given me a great idea for this one when i try for another shoot tomorrow. With a clean lens of course this time.
ctfchallenge13-Aug-2005 04:47
beautiful...reminds me of "2001:space odessy" movie...very cool. btw if i were to comment something, half-heartedly (not a big deal) i would say, center composition seems to weaken the shot. kind of makes it static. Paul, i am very impressed with your imagination. -Abstract

Take your time, no rush.
Paul 13-Aug-2005 04:23
Blimey! It's filthy, i'll give it a clean and try again, bear with me.
aam1234 13-Aug-2005 04:05
Give it a good Australian "hoof" then wipe it w/ your T-shirt. It should work.
aam1234 13-Aug-2005 03:57
First Paul, the lens of your camera needs to be cleaned. I'll think about the "second" later :)
