Green on Green on Green *

West Springfield, Massachusetts USA

I was on my way to a party when I spotted this reflection of trees across the road. Late though I was, I had to turn back and take a shot. I'll probably replace it, but I thought it was interesting enough to give a look here.

The reflection gives the shot some surreal feeling. I like the three-part composition. The new version is a big improvement.

OK, here's a new version---minus the smokestacks and with the color of the building toned down. Any better?

Thanks, Jano, Alexeig, and Yvonne. I really have to laugh about this entry (or probably more accurately, my judgement), as I thought of it as a throwaway to be replaced as soon as I could come up with something better. However, the positive responses have surprised me, and at the rate I'm going (with houseguests, no less), I'll probably keep it now.

What an interesting photo! At first (prior to reading your explanation) I was really puzzled by the surreal reflection of the trees. Excellent capture. jano

I don't know how to use channels either Mary Ann so does your software have a selection tool? They might be named "Lasso" or Magic Wand" as in PS. You can use either one of these to just select the blue & in your file menu you can either adjust the colours or mess with the saturation & hue thingy.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, folks. I too was bothered by the pipes and the blue stripe, as well as the lights and sign in front, but I didn't think the shot was worth spending too much time on. But it looks like we're going to have some rain, which means I'll be stuck inside, so maybe I'll give it a shot. I'd have no problem cloning things out, but I haven't worked much with individual channels, so I'm not sure about how to change just one hue. However, it's fun to play around with.

Thanks for posting this Marry Anne. It's a very worthy entry. I like it a lot.
If you want to git rid of the blue as the others suggest, I reckon you only need to use the Saturation Dialog, select the blues and/or cyans and change the hue, that may do the trick.

Agree, the blue band takes a little from this wonderful photo. Play with blue, if you have the chance, and see what you end up with.

The reflection does work really well. I agree with with Sharon about the vents (pipes) I think I would also select the blue in software & either make it a lot less blue or try & make it greenish. Just for this topic. Well seen & taken Mary Anne.

To me it looks like the lighter green trees are caged. A zoo for plants! Could you clone out the blue pipe things on the roof? Great shot, worth going back for! ~Sharon
