* Is it really bigger than my hand?

Kids have to compare everything to everything. They have to touch everything too. And sometimes even though they might already know the answer to the question they have to ask. They are hard wired to do that...

Plenty of details in the shadows on my crt monitor but I know lots of generic Lcds are too contrasty & would make the shadows darker. How did you get this shot Cats? As I imagine that the leaf is a giant one to get that dof. Good shot mate.

I too really like the concept and totally understand what you're saying. The fascination with who's hand is bigger is one I can also remember when being a kid. Using the leaf as a prop or catching that perfect moment is a really bright idea.

I believe I agree with Abstract. The little finger and the thumb are fairly dark, and although I can still make them out it would be nice if they stood out more (lightened up a tad perhaps) because it does take away from the main subject. Otherwise it is a great concept and sharp to me. I do like the shadows on the fingers and the backlight of the leaf! jano

Not you, may be i need to calibrate my monitor.
fingers in the shadows are not bad, but doesnt give the impact of a complete hand either. if you can bump up fingers in the shadows without increasing highlights on them, it should look good. but may be it wouldnt make much of a difference. lets see if anyone else has to say anything about this. -Abstract

Ohh! Is it really that dark?!? I might have to reclibrate my monitor then, as it looks really sharp -n-crisp. And the fingers in the shadow were not great but not bad either. In fact I had enough room to bump up the corntrast a little more on this one. Let me know if I should increase the brightness a bit on this one. May be that will help. Thanks for the feedback Abs. -Cat

Photocat, i really like the backlit leaf. you have captured really nice details/veins but i have not been able to make up my mind (am not saying didnt like) about the harsh lighting on the hand. may be its that shadows are completely eating up thumb and pinky? i dont know. nice thought behind the shot though. -Abstract
