Mya's little nose would not have touched the vertical line if you had moved an inch to the left or right with your camera.. Things don't happen to be in certain spots - they end up there due to our camera position, so looking carefully at the composition before pressing the shutter button is of paramount importance. But if you are happy with the way it is - no problem.

Mya's little nose just happened to be in the spot it was when I took the photo. It is one of my favorites because of her, and also because it is taken with all natural light coming from the setting sun through the front door which is below the stairs. I was experimenting with lighting techniques and am happy with the results. Thanks for the coments!

Julian--I appreciate your correcting my critique of this image. I must say I did not find the snout in an inappropriate place, but now that you have brought this to our attention, I'm sure some of us may learn an important lesson as regards the placement of elements in an image. Obviously, the shot is loved by the photographer and given that the other elements are very appealing, I'm sure (and I speak for myself) we are enjoying this furry "favorite." Shu

Sorry to disagree with you Shu but I think one should avoid visual 'incidents' like this - the nose just touching the vertical line or any other edge. Visual incidents like this attract too much attention and do not contribute to the photograph at all - on the contrary.

Nice toning and his little nose breaking the vertical line is a nice touch. Just a suggestion, I would crop to just above the highlighted vertical line on the wall. I think the composition would then be perfect! Shu
