Two disks from different era, having the same musical score! Contains one of my favorites: Lara's Theme.

It's nice to be agreeable, but agreeing to disagree is often more interesting......I think:-)

You're welcome Mary Anne!
Thanks Ioana!
Rod, As always, I value your opinion. We don't have to agree to have a good and meaningful conversation. :-) -Cat

Contrary to popular opinion I'm not consumed by BHs, they either work or they don't & this shot falls into the latter category for me. As always if the photographer is happy with the outcome that's all that matters..........init:-)

BTW, last comment was mine, just forgot to sign in. I guess senile dementia is one downside of being at that age where that old record makes sense at the first glance ;)

Cat, you are a fountain of cool ideas!

Thanks for the explanation, Cat. Now it makes sense.

Alexeig and Mary Anne, the disk you are looking at is an old technology music box disk. Its a metal disk and has solid "plucks" right under the dashed holes on the reverse side which when placed in the music box would rotate and pluck the tiny metal plates and make a piano like sound. These are collectibles and I use them once or twice a year... If you would enjoy, I can upload some explanatory pictures for you two. -Cat

I'm with Alexeig...I really don't know what I'm supposed to be seeing here. From the description, I thought maybe one was supposed to be an old vinyl record, but the dashed holes are a puzzle to me.

Have I missed a generation? What is this disk to the left with this dashed patterns?
Guest 12-Jun-2005 15:26
Thanks Shu, I am glad you liked it :-) -Cat

You sure did, Cat! And it works to your advantage. Impressive shot, indeed! Shu

Rod, don't get consumed by BH's so much. There is a purpose for the continuous right reflection which cuts through the edge of the CD. You can never get that effect in the older disk! It is meant to re-enforce the generation gap concept (as there is really a gap created in the CD by the right BHs). Bottomline, I am using the BHs to my advantage here. -Cat

Good idea Cats but I find the white background glowing atomically. If you can adjust the right reflection to look similar to the left one then you're on your way to having a shot. If your skills in PS are not the best then try shooting this with the kit lens to tame the BHs:-)hehe
