color cowboy *

Chisec, Guatemala

This dance is called the ¨Baile de Veinado¨ which means ¨Dance of the Deer¨. Here in Chisec it occurs during their yearly ¨feria¨ or festival and involves a lot of sugarcane liquor.

thanks nugar and yvonne. i was lucky that they were dancing underneath a tree and could use advantage of the filtered light coming down. - atothev

Hi Andy,

I like this image very much, love the saturated colors and the ethnic motive. Great use of the light in the composition.

Very fun image, I love the color and the textures of the thread. Yvonne

thanks for all the comments and suggestions. Alexeig, I took a sliver off the side probably about 1/3 of the far robe. I agree that it was definitely needed but struggled with the amount in order to keep the balance that that robe provides. If I could I would take it out of the middle purple robe but oh well!!! Rod, this is the guy´s back but i´m sure some neck hair and the back of his mask would have complimented the photo quite well! Thanks again for all the comments. - andrew

ps: i second Alexeig's crop suggestion

WOW, what an orgy of color! I would crop a tad from the right though

Fabulous color. Caught my eye immediately! Mom

I really like the idea of looking through that space to see the dancer. The only problem is that without the text I wouldn't have a clue as to what I was looking at. If we could see the eyes of the dancer that would do it. Or is that the back of the dancer?

Excellent colors!

Fantastic colors. I'm glad you were finally able to upload this to the challenge.

Wonderful capture of color (under difficult light, too!). The photo does a great job conveying the festive atmosphere - I can almost hear the music!

Ok, I´m up and running now. I think, like Mary Anne said, that it was the replace this image option. It´s working now though. - andrew

I can't see it either. Same thing happened with my photo yesterday...I ended up deleting the whole thing and starting over. Unfortunately, the "replace this image" option didn't work either. Fortunately, it happened immediately so I didn't lose any comments.

It might be just my computer, but I can't see your picture at all (tried several times). Too bad for me, it sounds interesting :-(

Sí, ésta semana es la feria. Tomorrow some of us from Peace Corps are going to participate in the local parade. It should be a good time! Good to hear from you. - andrew

When I get back home I´ll take a look at it. I might burn it out too in order to keep the composition. Thanks for the suggestion. - andrew

Great shot, Mr. Master of Lightning! :)
Love the colors and how the clothes' designs form an abstract composition as a whole.
(*) I know is difficult for you right now, but can you try to re-post this, cropping the silver (gray?) line of the top left corner. I tried it and the picture still looks great, eliminating that distraction (at least for me).
¿Es la fiesta del pueblo? Saludos.
-Jose Pablo.
