Kursaal*

Donostia, Spain

It took me a while to come to a conclusion about what might be most typical about my photography.
Possibly pictures of urban architecture with—practically—no live beings to be seen?
Then, this image of the «Kursaal» in the Basque city of San Sebastián could be a «sig pic» of mine.
Who knows if the—insignificant???—humans in this photo are just the exception to confirm the rule... ;-))

BTW: Yes, the people of San Sebastián—or Donostia, as the city is called in the Basque language Euskera—
do use the *German* word for their..., well, Kursaal, designed by the Spanish architect Rafael Moneo.

I'm glad you are disconcerted, Rod: to disconcert—though there is a *concert* hall within the «Kursaal» (sorry, couldn't resist)—was definitely one of the aims of the architect of that leaning building; I just used a slight wide-angle which makes the white column «counterlean» and, therefore, seems to increase your feeling of being disconcerted, IMHO. In case you doubt it: this picture stands—apart from the distorted perspective due to the focal length—absolutely level. Does anyone else feel too I should «straighten» that street lamp's verticality??? I hadn't even thought of it... — db.

I normally don't worry about level horizons & verticals if the shot is working but the white column on the left seems very disconcerting with its lean. If you can fix that I think the shot will work.

Great colors! I think you got the perfect exposure for this shot.
(*) I would love to see this one after running it under a noise reduction software.
