LOL, this is funny! The position of the hands on the "big" boy suggests he's actually IN the process of shrinking his brother. And the title is just perfect, too.

Great idea for this topic

This is a great shot. Perfect alignment between the two boys - that in itself is worth extra points! Directing the boys must have been a challenge itself. For this challenge, I like the BW better, as the focus quickly goes to the proportional subjects. And I generally prefer color!

Then the effect is really great. I also like the BW version better.

I like the B&W version also. What helps this shot work is that it's not static like some others. The boy is leaning back as though he's taking some weight & the other boy is trying to balance. Great job on the this one RK

Ok, I just upsized the %#^&&^ out of this thing and the thumb tip is indeed there. However, now it looks like the pants are cloned over the middle and ring fingers (I'm talking about the color copy of the main entry shot.) Is that just blur? I can't figure it out as there is some quality loss in the upscaling. ~ Lonnit

I prefer the non-color versions as well.

I've not had an opportunity to shoot this same setup, but that was my intended goal. What first got me interested in photography was a 'trick-photography' book I took out of the school library in elementary school. I was only 8 or 9 years old. This was the same thing they showed in the book, only it was a little ballerina girl, and also in BW. I was hoping to have a chance to shoot it this weekend. Even though you've got your entry in before me, I've been wanting to do this shot for 35 years - so please don't think I'm copying you! :)

You did an excellent job of getting the right placement. How is it that the pants look like they are behind the fingers but in front of the thumb though? The BW one I can see the space between thumb and pants. This one looks like a tad of cloning of the pants over the thumb, particularly in the original color one. I'm a bit stumped on that since you said you didn't PS it. How'd you get it to look that way? Lonnit

RK, another awesome entry. how many takes did you have to take to get this perfect effect. the motion blur looks cool and makes the shot alive. i really like it. -Abstract

Thanks Jano and Lee for the comments.

Following is the color version:

and an another shot in bw

I seem to prefer the BW, don't know why...

Good shot. I couldn't convince my wife and daugher to do this over the weekend. theFly

When I first saw this shot, I thought for sure a composite. On closer look (and I took my glasses off to look closer!) the blurred hand makes me tend to believe it is not a composite as it blends right into the background. But straight out of the camera? Now I'm really flustered! Amazing is all I can say! However, I am tempted towards the color version as I don't personally see any reason to have this in B&W. jano

Thanks Pedro & Jose for the comments.
Pedro, this is not a composite ( I am assuming it means merging multiple shots). This is the original pic. straight from the camera, the only processing is RAW to JPEG.

Jose, the reason for B&W, it looked better w.r.t. the background.

I took a look again... If it's not a conposite, it's amazing the effect you got....
Guest 18-May-2005 01:47
Good shot, but isn't it a composite? I think they aren't allowed this time...

I like how the hands of the little guy look blurred as a sign of the movement to try to maintain his balance. Well shot.
* Any special reason why this is B&W? Just curious.
