I think it's the kiwi! He just LOOKS so... worried? sad? guilty? I really like this picture, and the bw works great with the prison theme.

Thanks for the feedback. ... and for the help. Jose, i still think you have scope with your russian dolls. Just a thought. If two dolls next to each other were exactly the same height but one was completly out of focus wouldnt that be weird. Weird enough to try i think.

Hi Andy,
GMTA.
Last night I tried some shots with an idea very similar to yours. But instead of using fruits I was using a set of Matrushka Dolls. This is an example of what I was shooting.

I was hoping to improve it tonight, but I guess I'll have to start thinking in something else. I was doing it just for fun and thought about asking our CTF colleagues to try to order the dolls by its real size
BTW, you're results are much better than what I was getting. Congratulations.
-Jose Pablo.

Rod i got the ruler out again. The table was 1m long; 3ft to you. So the apple and pear were against the wall. The kiwi was perched on the edge. The strawberry just behind and the tomato at half way. The camera was about 1ft to 18" in front.

Rod Im on leave...well deserved i assure after 20 years at the chalkface. Im taking a year off to let the kids learn french and my wife spend some time with family. Its great like being retired. Cant really afford it but who cares.

Abs; I referenced the original work;

I've only seen this shot, bugger. I would have enjoyed bagging the first two shots:-) This works so well I might even copy it, do you think a shot like this will work with meat pies & savs?
How far were the fruits in front & behind each other as it looks as though their in line? This works great you must be either very creative or unemployed:-)

aaahaaa now i can see all the suspects clearly. perfect. -Abstract
when i tried to write, suspect #3 in my comment, i realized the technical mistake...dont they have numbers 1, 2 ...marked somewhere...on the board above their head or in their hands.
Guest 17-May-2005 17:58
Now it's perfect...very funny, Andy.
ctfchallenge17-May-2005 17:49
changes made as per your suggestions. Agreed, it looks much better.

agreed. you don't need one third of the image with an oof surface... but it is MUCH better now with every "suspect" in focus....
ctfchallenge17-May-2005 16:54
and please give us a little bigger size. -Abstract
ctfchallenge17-May-2005 16:52
this version is much better. btw i would crop most of, if not all, oof foreground. way too distracting for my taste. it will also remove the depth perception from the image. -Abstract
Guest 17-May-2005 16:31
Andy, Are you working on winning first second and third? Fun shot.
ctfchallenge17-May-2005 16:27
This is my attempt at a reshoot. Have foregone some of the impact by having things more in focus. Also shot on a different table. The big kiwi did it.

Adorable idea, but yes, that dang strawberry - doesn't even look like a strawberry. While you're at it, just nudge that pear over a tad to the right b/c there's a slight overlap with the tomato. What was the tomato nabbed for - prostitution? LOL! ~ Lonnit
Guest 17-May-2005 14:08
hahahah... so funny... actually, one of my favorite movies... you did a very good background... does it come from real life experience ;-) ? for the *, I would try to put the strawberry more in focus.... yes, I know, I know...
ctfchallenge17-May-2005 12:53
imho you must get the straberry in focus for this shot to be effective. a very creative and intelligent idea nonetheless. -Abstract
btw, you might like one of my shots i took for "Fruits" mini challenge... CLICK HERE i added noise and visual artifacts to imitate real mugshot quality.
