* My Adobe Village

Wantagh, Long Island, NY

This rotting tree stump reminded me of one of those ancient
Native American villages built into the sides of canyon walls.
It even has a wonderful stairway to walk up, from the lower
left hand corner. I also liked the leaf that gives the clue
to the reality of the size.

Paul, I didn't want to spoil the fun by giving it away up front - I was hoping people would look at the image b/f they read the blurb. That's why in the eligible one I put the blurb down in the comments area. I should have done the same here. ~ Lonnit

I thought it was dirt at first like the clay shale we have here where i live and it reminded me of the ancient cities discovered on mountain tops in Asia. I failed to notice the leaf or that it was timber until i read your description and the other posters comments.
Where ambiguity plays a part in these images-the same as your excellent wine bottle in Eligible- i'd prefer it if you didn't mention what exactly we're looking at until someone prompts you as i love the confusion this type of image creates in the mind .

That's cool Pf... I personally prefer the leaf but if you don't that's cool too. Ideally I'd like people to not notice the leaf at first, assume it's a canyon wall, and then notice the leaf and say, "Oh, cool - I thought it was a canyon but it's tiny!". LOL! ~ Lonnit

Excellent, Lonnit... but (*) in my opinion the leaf spoils it... it took my attention immedately until I realized what it was...I would like to see it without hte leaf, so I could never be sure if they are real villages or a rock or wood or whatever... just my two cents...

Lonnit, you are on fire in this challenge...well, not as much as you are in Red and Longshots cslr challenges though ;) for the records (only) i am not suggesting something along those lines for this challenge too :)
another beautiful entry...mind is such an amazing thing. you see adobe village and i see rock cliffs where i can go and climb.
really nice close-up shot which clearly fools viewer's perspective. if it wasnt for the leaf, we couldnt say the size of this feature...at the same time it also made this shot on-topic :)
i have one of this kind shot somewhere, which never made it to my album. will try to dig it out. -Abstract
