Help in the background*

To got it equal, I focused to the mid distance between me and the bottle, otherwise the contrast of sharpness would be too much. Now both subjects are equally out of focus... I think I am more in focus than the bottle...

Thanks Alexeig, thanks Ioana. You are correct, I was limited by the size of the room. I thought about making it outdoors, more distance, more focus, etc., but then the time factor again... so I go with this one.

Cool idea! I would have liked to see more of you though, the way it looks now the eye really has to search the frame to find the little person in the corner (my guess is the size of the room was the limiting factor here). Nice shot, nevertheless.

Well, yes, I guess technically it would be, but it's only for the purpose of having both subjects in focus. I think the composit rule was more for preventing someone from actually altering the scale of one subject to make it larger or smaller tahn another. In other words, it should be a photographed effect not a photoshopped one. ~ Lonnit

Or, you could use two frames - one with you in focus and one with the bottle in focus and then PS them together. :) ~ Lonnit

WAW....that's an idea, Andy... you're right, that could work...since I can put the bottle near to the wall, the camera near the bottle and the wall, and my shadow, no problem with DOF should appear...let me think about it, thanks for the tip!

Now this is an interesting shot. I though about this type of illusion but the problems with DOF seemed to hard. Youve done it really well but the difference in focus is always a distraction. Ive got an idea you could try that might get around that. (Theres no royalty payment or anything.) In stead of you use your shadow...mm... i know your shadow does not have that filmstar quality that won you the last challenge but just an idea.

Thanks everyone. This version has better focal range than the first one. A higher F-stop wouldn't make it better, since the bottle is 30cm from the lense while I am 2 meters from it. I don't have more distance in the room, so it has to stay this way. Maybe in the weekend I can try to test it outdoors, with more distance, more light, and then maybe better focus. So far, I'm happy with it and feel that the focus is enough (I appear just in the corner, so my out of focus isn't so important, and gives me less relevance as a subjetc, which is the idea behind the shot).

A good idea. You may need to back up just a little, and then use a long f stop - something like f/16 or f/22. This will take a tripod and a steady hand to "hold" the bottle.

Ok, here you got the second version. Different lighting, though, but it looks better I think. Now the bottle is in focus, and I more than less either... it's not possible to make both subjects sharp... maybe at greater distance, but I can't do that right now... I think it's passable.
