Abs - As I love the S1, the S2 can only be better. I like the idea of 0 cm macro (macro was always poor on the S1). I also think the extra 2MP in resolution will do wonders for distant landscape shots... Something the S1 was not the best in.
As I also have both the Canon wide & Teleconverters for the S1, hopefully I will be able to use them on the S2.... This gives the S2 a 28mm wide and a huge telezoom of 700mm (35nn equiv.)!
In the dSLR world to get a IS zoom of 600mm plus at such a wide open aperture is impossible... The teleconverter actually increases the light gathering on the lens and does not increase the f stop, whereas a teleconverter on a dSLR that goes between camera body and lens, always increases the f stop value.
Richard, after having so many cameras why are you so excited about S2?
i am at all excited about S2. for me 10x is enough on the teleend and extra 2mp doesnt impress me either. if it was 27mm wide and 8MP then it might have been a different story ;)
but then...i havent bought my dslr yet, so no matter what Canon does, they have to wait for a long time before they can get my money for S* (or similar). -Abstract
Thanks Abstract.... I guess I don't enter many in eligible anymore, as most of my new photos are taken with my Pentax dSLR nowadays. I'm actually going to buy the Canon S2IS as soon as it hits Australia next month, as I feel the S2 will be the ultimate "fun factor" camera.... While I love my Pro1, and Pentax *istD.... The Canon S1 / S2 are the digicams that are the most enjoyable to use IMHO.
what a shot Richard!beeeeeautiful! a perfect "bugs eye view" photograph with all those dramatic colors. knowing the range of S1, i bet you must have spent quite a bit of time playing with exposure in this one (while taking the shot and in PS)
you still have your S1 and Pro1, so why did you stop submitting in eligible? looking forward to your entries. -Abstract
